So back in May, there was this little thing happening across the pond. It was the Royal Wedding where a Prince married a common & beautiful American girl. Did you hear about it? We all stood by or even up until the wee hours of the night watching and reveling in their fairly tale. I have to be honest, I was entranced by all of it as well.
But little did we know we were having our every own “royal wedding” here in Michigan. Or at least it felt that way for Rick & Julie’s Meadowbrook Hall wedding back in May.
In all seriousness, their wedding was nothing short of spectacular. And yes, it was magical. And yes, it felt like a fairly tale complete with a vintage Rolls Royce from Detroit Classic Cars to deliver them to their castle at Meadowbrook Hall & Gardens. Once they arrived, we set out for a few portraits before handing them back over to their planning team of Micayla & Kaeli of Luna Soiree Events. I’ve worked with Luna Soiree and have known Kaeli almost my entire career and I knew they wouldn’t miss a beat for this beautiful wedding. And trust me, they are true professionals though and through. Especially when the storms rolled in. More on that in a moment. The flowers, arch & decor for Rick & Julie’s wedding day were such a labor of love, and designed by Kate of New Creations Flower Company. Kate is not only a very talented florist & designer, but she’s a also a dear friend & neighbors of Julie. We had worked together before, and I was so excited when she sent Julie my way.
And that’s where their wedding day became their own. A day to celebrate with their closest and dearest friends and family. You could just feel how happy everyone was to be there to welcome them into this new chapter of their lives. Guests poured into Meadowbrook along with a few heavy storms. Yes, that’s right, storms. And quite literally the moment Julie was set to walk down the aisle, the sky opened up on us. And went from 2 drops to a complete downpour. Thankfully, the planning team helped guests take coverage and got everyone down to the ballroom where we finished the ceremony. Although it was not what we had originally planned, it definitely made for an exciting day for these two. And for some beautiful moments to capture!
Guests strolled the grounds amongst the scattered rain clouds and danced under the tent to live music, hysterical & heart worthy toast (or should I say roasts) and the sweetest serenade by Rick’s daughter. Here’s a look at Rick & Julie’s Royal Meadowbrook Hall wedding.
