A few weeks back, I traveled to the West side of the mitten for Seth & Lauren’s Lake Michigan Engagement Shoot. Naturally, I took my little ones and mom to visit family and make another little workcation of it all. I was actually born in Muskegon and the majority of my family still lives there. Though I only lived there until I was about 3 yrs old, I still feel a familiar pull to Lake Michigan. So when clients suggest it, I jump for it.
Seth & Lauren wanted a beach feel, and wanted a relaxed shoot. I enlisted the help of my talented friends & florists, Jen of Jen House Design to pull together a bouquet that had just the right feel for these two. And let me say that if having a bouquet at your engagement shoot becomes a thing … I’m alllllll in. Seth, Lauren and I spent some time during their shoot getting to know eachother and talking everything wedding. We walked through their vision, timelines and more importantly had a blast hiking the dunes for a new perspective and kicking off our shoes to hit the beach. I’m pretty sure I will never tire of shooting on the shores of Lake Michigan.
It also gives me an excuse to shoot a roll of film, since the light is just right and it adds just that little bit of magic that I so love.

Lauren & Seth are planning a wedding for next year in downtown Grand Rapids at one of the newer venues, the Market of Grand Rapids. Ohh, it’s going to be an incredible day! But until then, here’s a look at Seth & Lauren’s Lake Michigan Engagement shoot.
