My approach to shooting weddings (& high school seniors) is much like how I approach my own life. I let the moments unfold as they will & create my best work.
My wedding work has a specific feel. It’s intimate, yet fun. It explores all facets of light & embraces each one. It’s modern, yet classic. It’s the place where perfect & pretty finds it’s edge.
A wedding day should feel effortless, as you live through each moment and experience each one. I want you to look back on your wedding day photos in 25, 50 years and remember how you felt on that day, not just how you looked. I strive to capture all of them through my lens, spontaneously & artistically. I'm there to provide gentle direction with a creative eye and bring your vision to life.
I have a strong sense of vision, and consider our time together an authentic creative collaboration. I strive to tell a story that is truly yours while bringing my 10 years experience and energy to the table, leaving not a single detail unturned.
I'm proud to share my experience with other creatives in my industry, and have been teaching workshops & 1:1 mentoring since 2012 under my program Hustle + Heart. My writing has been published in both Lemonade & Lenses and Seniorologie, as well as advice columns in both Borrowed & Blue, Style Me Pretty and Intimate Weddings.
My work can also be seen in creative publications such as The Knot, The Every Last Detail, Wedding Chicks, The Grey Collective and Lemonade & Lenses, to name a few.
I've been a proud member of Professional Photographers of America since 2007.
When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me traveling with my family & looking for the newest adventure. My wanderlust & my work often takes me to far away & exciting places. Some of my favorites are Encinitas, California where I was recently engaged, both coasts of Florida, New York City, Charleston and Chicago.
I'm a fixer upper kind of girl, and also pour much of my creative energy into my kids & husband Joe, and restoring our 104 year old American Foursquare home in Downtown Dexter.
I am also a new bride! I was married this past 4th of July at Zingerman's Cornman Farms, just down the street from where we live. We had a small & intimate wedding with 20 of our closest friends & family. It was a second marriage for me as my life is beautiful, yet bittersweet. I've learned that it doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful. I've written about my love & loss extensively over on my blog, and I've come to accept that profound loss is just another beautiful chapter in my story.
