Sometimes my business feels like one big, happy family. Let me explain. After 11 years, I am still nearly (and nearly meaning like 99.9%) referral based. Sure, I do own a domain & blog, but most of my wedding clients find me through word of mouth. Whether it be a referral by another client who I’ve shot, venue, a planner, florist, makeup artist etc. They are typically someone who was in or related to one of my wedding clients. Which is amazing. Because by the time they reach me, they have a fairly good understanding of my work, my shooting style and even a little personal tidbits here and there. It makes for such a great fit for everyone. It’s surely a #winwin!
Enter Katie. She was in her brother Patrick’s wedding last summer here in Detroit. (A little peek here for you) it was such a great day, with all the best vibes, sunshine and one of the most fun and chill wedding parties of 2017. I knew the minute she reached out to see if I would come to shoot her own wedding in Lakeville, Minnesota that this was going to be a perfect fit. Not only is she beeeeeautiful, but she has this energy and light that I was instantly drawn to. So a few weeks ago, I flew out of Detroit on a snowy Saturday morning and landed in the Twin Cities for their engagement shoot. Her fiancé, Paul scooped me up at the airport and I loved him instantly, too.
So after some downtime as Katie wrapped up getting ready for her shoot, we headed out to our location Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. With temps dipping into the teens that day, I’m so glad we had this GORGEOUS back up plan! Given it was a little crowded on this Saturday, we managed to sneak away to a few spots to grab the shots we needed, get to know each other a little better and make some pretty pictures together. Katie & Paul are soooo good together. She is just this bubbly ball of good juju, and Paul brings this sense of calm and happiness out in her that was wonderful to watch happen right in front of my camera. I cannot wait to head back again this July for their wedding! Here’s a peek.
