Each year, right around this time my almost 5 year old, Jillian turns into a little ball of excitement. Sure, she’s excited that her birthday is right around the corner, or that we bake almost every weekend. And she may even be excited that Christmas is coming. But what she’s most excited for is for her elf – aptly named Elf – makes his appearance when we return home from Thanksgiving dinner each year. She’s been asking for him for the past few days, questioning where he is and what he is doing before planning his long journey from The North Pole to our house. She even mentioned that she “sure hopes he doesn’t get stuck in traffic that makes him late!”
If you haven’t seen this great little tradition called Elf on the Shelf for your kids, it’s simply adorable and a really fun way to keep your kids on their toes during the holidays. This is the 3rd year we’ve had Elf hanging around and he’s so much fun for our family.
So needless to say, Elf has landed and made his appearance at The Lamarand house last night. And he’s got a lot of mischief to get into around here while keeping an eye on Jillian and making sure she’s on her best behavior and being generous and helpful throughout the holidays. I’ll be keeping track and documenting Elf and his many adventures here as well, so here’s to hoping you get as much enjoyment out of this great tradition as we do!
