And just like that. At 8 weeks, we’ve hit a little … stride. I’ve been pretty lucky that both my babes got into their own routines rather quickly. Jillian was a heavy afternoon napper, ate pretty well, slept great and was a generally happy little girl. Nash on the other hand is an entirely different little human being. He naps long and hard in the morning. He can barely keep his eyes open to send Jillian and Jeff off for the day. He follows up with a few catnaps (if I’m lucky) throughout the day, and nursing has been smooth sailing once we both got the hang of it. He’s a really happy baby all day with a “cranky hour” as we call it late in the afternoon. Even with that, I’m not going to lie, he makes me feel a little … spoiled. He’s been sleeping 5-7 hour stretches at night and is usually up around 7am. And that (wonderful) morning nap gives me plenty of time to get my day started on the right foot.
Jillian and I have been on an oatmeal kick for the last few months, so oatmeal with a warm bowl of oats and giggles with my little girl is how my day usually starts, followed by the sink full of dishes that’s usually waiting patiently for me.
The unmade beds and Jillian’s messy room usually are too…
I’m usually at my desk by 9am returning phone calls, checking e-mail, editing, blogging and even enjoying a cup of tea…
After the dogs have been fed and let out, I can usually find Rigby sunning herself and settling in for a nap, too.
