Odd title for a post, I know. But it felt so weird putting it together, but I promised that I would. Deep breath … this post features … me. How odd. Me? In front of the camera? Yes, it’s true a few weeks ago I put my big girl panties on and did something that is pretty uncomfortable. I let someone point their camera at me for new head shots. I don’t mind a million selfies with my kids, but a big girl camera pointed at me? Yikes. Very scary for me to turn the tables like that. As much as I love to shoot other people and I think I have the ability to make them comfortable it is a strange feeling when roles are reversed. I knew I needed updated head shots to reflect (a few new wrinkles haha) and my new brand. Many of my clients will book me sight unseen and this is just another way for them to get to know me a little better.
Trust me when I say it took an army to get me ready. But with the help of a few fabulous women, we made it happen. A big thanks first of all to my baby sister, Jessica for always making me feel beautiful. She’s a talented hair stylist who keeps my locks looking their best. I could not have done this without her help. And of course to my other talented makeup artist & dear friend Jill Sollars who had to get my face ready for the camera. In case you don’t know Jill, please head over and check out her work. She’s one of my top referrals when it comes to makeup artistry for my clients. She’s done handfuls of my brides and she was the lead makeup artist behind last year’s Fresh Faces Campaign. She’s so talented, and I am so thankful that she was available to help me with these.
And of course, my sweet, uber talented friend Jess of VaVaVoom Boudoir. I shot her wedding a few years ago, and I always love working with her. She offered to do these for me in her natural light home studio and the experience was something that I’ll never forget. Jess has a way of making you feel beautiful both inside and out. She has a raw talent and uncanny ability to bring out the best in you for her. I trust very few people to point their big, pro camera at my face. And she’s definitely one of them. So that’s it. Just me on my own blog. Weird. But here’s a peek at a few of my favorites.
