My littlest love, Nash Jameson turns two today. Two. My little bundle of joy, the love of my life, this kid with a smile that melts my heart, makes it go pitter patter when he says my name and the one who has made our family whole turns TWO today. It’s crazy to think that Jeff and I were planning on having one little firecracker until that summer day after shooting a wedding in California when the dates on my calendar just didn’t add up right. I’ll never forget that day. I called Jeff twice, and in typical Mayor fashion he sent me straight to voicemail. I then left him a text proclaiming “I just took two tests. They were both positive. Call me. Now.” And so there we were, smiling from ear to ear, expecting another baby! And the minute we saw his little face for the first time, we realized how much he was always meant to be …
I’ve ever really shared images from the morning he was born in the hospital, but I will forever love them. I have to thank one of my best friends, Kendra for so much that she does for me and how lucky we are to have her in our lives. My kids adore her, and she’s like family. She was at my house in 7 minutes flat the day I went into labor with Nash. She was with Jillian all day and met us up at the hospital with camera in tow. I am forever indebted to her and all she’s done for us. Besides, she’s an amazing friend, too!
Jillian became a big sister, and she is truly the best big sister any little brother could ever ask for. Though she won’t go near a dirty diaper with a 10 ft. pole, she showers him with affection and teaches him all of the most important things in life like how to finish and entire glass of chocolate milk in a single sip, how to driver Matchbox cars down the bannister of the stairs and make me crazy, and how to build one killer fort on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I’m not one of those photographers who has my big camera in their faces every day. But when I can, and the time is right, I’ll shoot a few frames and capture them being them. I shot a handful of images when he first came home in both digital and film, and I love the way they look. But most of the time, I tote around my iPhone and document both of them on their IG feeds ( #lovemyjillian & #cherishinghislittleness). But I love to look back on those first few quiet days and appreciate the little boy he’s turning into. Such a joy to be around, always has a car within arm’s reach and has a smile that can light up a room.
