Mike & Nicole’s Planterra Conservatory wedding is hitting the blog today with perfect timing. I sit here looking out my window at the snow on the ground, a box of tissues nearby from a cold I just powered through and I need nothing more than to remember a warm day. And warm it was for this one. Even in mid-September here in Michigan can feel like the middle of the jungle. But Nicole and Mike had an incredible day at Planterra Conservatory with their family & friends for their big day. What I love most about being a preferred vendor at Planterra (yes, a girl can toot her own horn) is that every wedding is completely different from the next. Color palettes are different, florals, light, all of it. Shooting inside this incredible conservatory surrounded by lush greens sometimes feels surreal. The sun rises and sets directly overhead which means that all throughout the day, the light is constantly changing and playing hide and seek. It makes for truly dreamy day.
Nicole and Mike have been so wonderful to work with, and it feels like we’ve been friends for so long. I remember meeting up with them for their engagement shoot the year before their wedding, meeting their fur babies and family and knowing it was going to be such a great day.
I loved the palette of dusty blue and natural greens against the classic black of the guy’s tuxes. I loved the endless taper candles. There must have been 400 of them. Next time I work there, I’m going to have to ask because I am curious if I’m right! But it made for such a beautiful location for their wedding and reception. Needless to day by the end of the night, we all felt like a melted taper candle from dancing our booties off. What an awesome celebration for such a great couple. Here’s a peek at Nicole & Mike’s wedding day.
