Came across this video the other day, and it was just too good not to share. It’s all about taking risks and making it count. It resonated with me in a peculiar way when I saw it. You see, two years ago today I took a big leap of faith.
A big one.
I walked away from my job in Corporate America to chase my own dream. I left a lot on the table that day. A generous salary, 401k, stock options, company car, 15+ years of busting my butt to climb that corporate ladder, and all the perks and benefits you could dream of. And just like that … poof …it was gone. And you know what? I haven’t looked back. Not even for a moment. Sure, there have been times that Jeff and I are scratching our heads wondering how we’re going to afford the “things” we used to have. But at the end of the day, this career of mine has afforded us so many things that make our life richer in other ways. Towards the end of my journey in Corporate America, I knew in my heart that it wasn’t the place for me anymore. I felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff that day ready to take a leap and not knowing if I was going to land on my feet or not. I was in an uncomfortable place and for the first time in my life didn’t know exactly what the future had in store for me. I was breaking all the rules. But look where I am … I’m so proud of where I am. I love everything about doing what I do. I get to meet the most amazing and inspiring people, I get to create, I get to be in control of my own destiny and more importantly I get to spend time with the people who matter most in my life.
So take a minute and watch this inspiring video. And just know that you don’t always have to follow the rules to make it count.
