So I whipped up this big fat blog post last weekend, published it and then poof! It disappeared. So I thought I should try to get it back up this afternoon. But two weeks ago, our little man, Nash turned ONE. I always have my kids’ birthdays on their actual birthday so it was a Thursday this time around. I worked my tail off for his party, and all the details big and small including his invites, cakes, frosting, cake toppers, banners and goodie bags we all made with love … by me. I’m pretty darn proud of myself because with Jillian I pretty much store bought everything and had bakeries do all my baking. Call me crazy, but just wanted to go this route this time around and so happy I did. Everything turned out great.
Our day started with a little frosting making and a 15 minute high chair nap, then hopped in the bath. I love shooting my kids in the bath and did the same thing with Jillian on her first birthday, so I thought it would be fun to carry on the tradition. It’ll be fun to look at those shots side by side.
While he was napping I started pulling the details together, finished up his cakes and got ready to celebrate with family and friends. I’m not a super themy person, but “little man” was part of it all so every little invite had it’s own custom bow tie that I found from The Snappy Sapling on Etsy. Nash had his own bow tie and matching suspenders with little bicycles on it, and he was so adorable! Jody was so awesome to work with, so if you are in need of some little bow ties you should definitely check her out. It was fun to see all the little boys with their ties on and the little girl’s with them in their hair.
We celebrated with our closest family and friends and Jillian even got to blow out his candle, which she thought was cool. The nice thing about having a few photographers in your family is that you can hand over your camera and actually be in some of the pictures, so thank you to my niece Candice for taking the reigns. Everyone had a great time, and can’t wait to do it again next year!
