Because I consider myself a natural light photographer, and don’t generally work out of a studio I find myself itching to get outside to shoot in the winter months. And there is nothing I love more than shooting with falling snow. My dear friend Rachel of Rachel Smaller Photography is getting married next year, and I’m thrilled to be shooting her & Matt’s wedding along with my nephew, Dave of Lamarand Style. It’s going to be quite an amazing day for them both and with Rachel being a photographer, we’ve got all sorts of incredible locations up our sleeves. Locks and keys are a flowing theme throughout their day so we decided to throw in a few for their shoot.
This will most likely be one of two Love Shoots for them, but she specifically had this vision in mind and I happily obliged her wishes (and my own selfish need to want to shoot in the snow, ha)! Matt’s an architect, so finding time with his busy schedule proved to be a bit trickier. We kept a close eye on the weather, and when it looked like there would be a chance of snow, we went for it. And we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. Ok, sure it was faaareeezing. And crazy windy, but we had perfect, white snowflakes flying around in the air and I woke up yesterday morning, wiped the sleep from my eye and muttered to my husband “… is it white out … please tell me it’s white out …” And sure enough, we had a nice little coat of the white stuff on the ground and I couldn’t have been happier.
Here’s a peek.
