Do you ever see a movie or perhaps read a book that just sparks something in you? It’s sort of like this energy that’s ignited and gets trapped inside you until you find a way to express it in your real life. I know for certain I’ve had that happen to me over and over again. And when I met with Kevin and Adrian on a hot summer night in downtown Ann Arbor and they told me the whole inspiration for their wedding day is built around a quirky Indie film … they must have thought that I thought they were nuts. But what they didn’t know then – that they know now – is that I didn’t. At all. We talked of other details and of their wedding plans at Misty Farms. We talked about music and I adored the fact that they were heading to the Blind Pig that night to hopefully book their wedding band after seeing them perform. I have to be honest, and I walked away from our meeting with fingers and toes crossed in hopes that they would book me for their wedding.
Both their wedding day and their love shoot were inspired from the little movie Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. And if you haven’t seen it yet, you must. It’s not for everyone but if you love an offbeat storyline filled with well known actors then this is one for you. Besides, Bill Murray is one of my absolute favorites. I showed up at their home and instantaneously fell in love with all the props they had pulled together for us to shoot with. Kevin of course was really into it, and had printed off images to go along. The cat even gave us a funny look when we mentioned that he would make a great prop as well. But lucky for the kitty, we changed our minds. It was pretty awesome.
A look at this movie’s trailer will give you a bit more insight…
I loved getting to know these two, how they met, all the places they’ve already lived and their plans for the future. And if their love shoot is even a glimpse into what their wedding day is going to be like, then I know I’m in for a treat. Here’s a look at their Love Shoot.
