I never Google or Facebook stalk my clients when they inquire or even when they book me sight unseen. I can imagine many photographers do. They want to know what they look like, are they short, tall, blonde, brunette? Maybe a little peek into their life on IG or FB. Nope, not me. I want to show up to their shoot (or even wedding sometimes) and soak them in. I want to be inspired by them, their connection and what they bring to the table and show me a bit of who they are, and more importantly about their story and how they fell in love. What they do for fun. How they connect. Connections are real, and translate through the lens. I love that my job is to be an observer and tell the world how much they love each other. Pretty amazing.
Enter Kara & Luis. They were referred to me through a few of my favorite clients over the years. They booked me without meeting with me first, and we met on a corner in Eastern Market. I instantly fell in love with them. And not just because, well … they’re good looking people too, but because their chemistry is undeniable. And real. We hit a few of their favorite spots in Detroit, and ended our shoot at Two James in Corktown. I feel so lucky to have people like them in front of my camera. I’ll see them in NYC this fall for a wedding, and their big day is going to be a little off the beaten path of traditional wedding venues, and it’s going to be fabulous. I simply can’t wait. Here’s a peek.
