I met Rebecca last summer at a wedding that I was shooting. She was the wedding planner for a day that was executed flawlessly. Needless to say, I was most flattered when she asked me to shoot her own wedding. We went back and forth for a few weeks about where we were going to shoot their Love Shoot and ultimately decided on shooting in The Arb in Ann Arbor. Which little did I know would be the most perfect, beautiful setting for these two. In just the two short hours that we spent together, I quickly learned that these two love to have fun but also have an incredible connection and an intimacy that is so beautiful. Here’s a little peek into our time together in The Arb.
Rebecca’s also an aspiring photographer, just at the beginning of her journey. Still exploring the possibilities and itching to spread her wings. At the end of their shoot I offered to snap a few images for her to use for her portfolio and offered a few words of advice … “Be yourself. Don’t try to be someone else. Draw inspiration from your clients, your life, your surroundings…love…marriage…children…growing old. Share those images with the ones you love. Owning a nice camera and taking pretty pictures doesn’t make you a professional photographer. Don’t forget, this is a business. People can get ugly sometimes. When one door closes, find another one to open.
And when someone tells you that you can’t, turn to that person and say … Watch me.”
