The Christmas family sessions I get to shoot each year are few and far between. I don’t do the mini shoots, Christmas cards, or anything else that typically comes with holiday shooting. I usually refer them out to other photographers that I love and trust. I do this for a couple of reasons, first I try really hard to carve out as much time as possible during the holidays with my own family. Especially after a very busy wedding season. Secondly, I don’t consider myself a family photographer. And yes, there is such a thing. There are oodles and oodles of amazing family photographers out there who do it, and do it well. But when my clients come to me that I’ve shot their engagement, wedding and other little shoots here and there I just have a hard time saying no. I feel that I’m connected to them in a way, and that I’ve become a part of their story. And so is the case with Kate and Lucasz. I’ve shot them a handful of times now, they’ve become neighbors and friends that I adore. Our little girls play together, and now that they have a new little addition I look forward to playdates with our little boys, too. We shot their Christmas session last weekend at Greenfield Village, a place where they are most comfortable. Of course, I brought Jillian so she could play with Ala and the two of them could giggle and play as they usually do. It was a gorgeous day, and I’m just so happy for Kate and Lucasz and love watching their family grow. Here’s a peek.
