Hello and Happy Friday! I’m feeling a little behind on posting from my For the Love of Learning mentoring sessions, so I’m excited to finally share with you these two lovely faces that I spent some time with last month. This is Megan & Kenzie of MK Photography over in Leslie, Michigan. These two are actually sister in laws and have launched a new and exciting venture together as a photography duo. I met them at one of our Blink Workshops last year and we chatted a little bit there about getting started and the possibility of mentoring together.
We met on a chilly Saturday in Ann Arbor for a day filled with shooting, learning and sharing. I scheduled a Love Shoot on the day of their mentoring session and Lindsay + Clayton felt a little like rockstars surrounded by papparazzi with three photographers for their shoot. But everyone had a great time and it was fun to shoot and share with these two by my side.
In the weeks since we met, these two have been hard at work building their portfolio, refining their business and launching a new website. I’m in awe of some of the work that I’ve seen them produce lately and I’m pretty confident when I say that these two are unstoppable! The fire and energy that these two have is contagious. And I loved every minute of mentoring these two.
Here’s a peek at our session together along with a few kind words from Megan & Kenzie:
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business a year in May.
Do you have a website?
We do! Our website is:
www.mandkphotographymi.com and right now it’s under construction after our amazing mentorship! 🙂 We’re excited for all the changes that are ahead with M&K.
Where are you located?
We are located out of Leslie, MI.
Canon or Nikon? Favorite lens?
Canon! My favorite lens right now is my 50mm 1.4.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee — addicted!
What inspires you?
Our children, our husbands, my surroundings, an old fence, an abandoned building, etc. I love looking at the world around me and thinking: “Wow! That could be an awesome picture!”
My favorite thing to take pictures of is ….
Of course, I’d have to say our children! 🙂 But professionally, we love senior girls and love the moments after the ceremony of a wedding where we get just the new bride and groom together. The love and intimacy is amazing!
What’s the most exciting thing you have planned for 2013 (personal or business)
Well…this is a tricky question right now. After our mentorship, we felt like our heads were spinning (in a good way) and couldn’t WAIT to get home and talk about all of the changes and plans we had for our business. I have to answer this question generally because I’m just so excited about ALL of the changes to our business for the upcoming year. We’ve been in business just about a year and this next year is going to be better than we could’ve imagined! I’m so excited for the journey!
