Here it is, my last wedding of 2012. I say that with a very full heart because it was such an incredible year for me. But more importantly, I got to witness some of the most amazing unions of love that I’ve ver seen. I feel so lucky to be a part of someone’s journey that it almost consumes me when I am shooting. I mean, here I am watching it all unfold. Their history. Their future. Their story. All of it, right before my very eyes. It’s quite incredible, and fills me with joy!
Travis and Mary are no exception. I met them last year for their Love Shoot and knew there was something special for them that day. I knew right from the start that Travis makes her happy from the inside out. And that he protects her and cares for her as a husband should. Mary has this timeless beauty that is rare. And when I first met her in her suite at The H Hotel in Midland for her winter wedding, she nearly took my breath away. A lifelong friend of hers, Emily Cook was on site for hair and makeup and Mary was stunning. We shot around the grounds of this modern and gorgeous hotel before meeting up with the guys pre-ceremony. Their ceremony was short and sweet as they came together in front of their closest family and friends.
Since winter weddings can often be tricky here in Michigan with such little daylight and freezing temps, we hurried to a few spots in Downtown Midland for some outdoor shooting. The Christmas lights were still twinkling in the courtyard outside the hotel so my second shooter, Charlene and I set up some off camera flash and made the best of it! Then we headed back inside the hotel and lobby to finish up before heading to the reception at The Midland Country Club for dinner and dancing. After witnessing one of the most touching father daughter dances I’ve ever seen and having fun with all of the guests it was time to wrap up the year and head home. I am so happy that I was able to end the year on such a high note and even more thankful that Mary and Travis welcomed Charlene and I as family and we were able to be a part of their day.
A few words from Travis & Mary … “‘From the very beginning of our wedding planning process, Travis and I decided that our wedding photos were something that were very important to us. We searched many hours for a photographer who would be exactly the right fit for us. We knew we wanted our images to have a unique, creative, and yet timeless feel. We found all of this and much, much more in Mishelle. From our Love Shoot to the final moments of our wedding day, she was an absolute blessing to us. Mishelle brings more than just a camera with her when she shoots, she brings a sense of professionalism, her creative spirit, and an uncanny ability to put you at ease. Several days before the wedding, I spoke with Mishelle to discuss the details of our big day. She had such wonderful insight about planning the timeline and after hanging up the phone, I was reminded yet again why we selected to work with her. The day of the wedding Mishelle arrived while we were getting ready and immediately began capturing the special details. The overwhelming passion she has for her profession was immediately evident as she radiated with positive energy and heartfelt emotion. Throughout the entire day she put both Travis and I at ease and was able to capture the emotions of such a special day without you hardly noticing she was there. Mishelle has an incredible ability to make you feel effortlessly comfortable and beautiful while in front of her camera. She was also able to seamlessly and flexibly work within our timeframe to ensure the day went smoothly. Travis and I received many comments on the day of the wedding from our friends and family regarding Mishelle’s professionalism and impeccable quality of her work. We could not be more grateful for our experience with Mishelle! Truly a one-of-kind individual.”
