Raquel and Jason spent the morning getting ready in their suites at The Athenuem in Downtown Detroit and opted for a first look on the campus of The Detroit Institute of Arts where we met up with their wedding party and hit some of their favorite spots like Town Pump, Tiger Stadium and we even made it down to Campus Martius in hopes of catching the tree lighting. Their ceremony took place at Holy Redeemer, one of the most beautiful churches in Downtown Detroit, and one that I’ve shot before. Their ceremony was full of Mexican tradition and followed by an amazing reception at one of my favorite venues, The Colony Club. To say it was stunning would be an understatement. It was perfect. I loved sharing one of the biggest and most exciting day in their lives. I feel so lucky to have shared it with these two. Their entire day was perfect from start to finish.
Raquel and Jason and they have been a dream to work with from the very start. I adore these two. Ever since their Love Shoot last May up at MSU, I’ve loved every minute hanging out with them and shooting with them. It’s like we’re old friends. And so getting to shoot their wedding day makes getting to know these two even that much sweeter.
Here’s a peek at their day. But first a few kind words from Jason & Raquel:
“One of the first vendor calls I made after getting engaged was to Mishelle. I looked and looked for the “Perfect” photographer for our special day. We knew that we wanted someone who could capture our day in a timeless way, someone who we could relate to and felt comfortable with in front of the camera. From the moment we started talking on the phone I knew Mishelle was the one. I felt like I was talking with a long lost girlfriend. There is something about her tone, and her friendly spirit that put me at ease. She made me feel like there was no decision to make. I felt the genuine excitement she had for my wedding and passion for what she does for a living. Feeling so comfortable and confident with her work I booked Mishelle without even meeting her in person! I felt that with her amazing work and with her confidence, professionalism and excitement there was no one else to look at.
When we met for the first time at our love shoot we instantly hit it off! There is something about Mishelle that makes you feel so comfortable, confident and beautiful in every and all situations. She is so genuine, kind and organized!! I remember not planning my wedding day timeline until I spoke with Mishelle. She helped me through so many big decisions in our day of timeline that I don’t know what I would have done without her.. When she arrived at my suite on my wedding day I felt a sense of relief and excitement to see her. She was amazing with all of my bridal party and I couldn’t have picked a better person to capture our special day. I am so lucky to call Mishelle my photographer and friend.”
