I love my job. And I’ve said it here on my blog countless times. And I love it for the obvious reasons … I get to meet great people, I get to shoot in cool locations, I get to pretty much have fun every time I shoot. Blah, blah, blah. But when a senior comes along like this one it is a swift reminder about the real reasons I love my job. Beauty. One word, that’s it. Beauty. It’s a word that rolls off our tongues in casual conversation, we see it in magazines, on tv. But this word for me goes much deeper. Beauty to me starts on the inside and works it’s way out. It’s not about perfect lips or shiny hair or a smashing wardrobe. It’s about who the person is on the inside that defines beauty for me.
Now, onto Gigi. We spoke over the summer as we planned for her shoot and I could hear her sweet giggly voice over the phone and knew she was going to be a blast to work with. Of course, I also love the fact that within the first 3 minutes of our conversation, she shouts “I knew when I was a sophomore that you were going to do my senior pics, Mishelle!”. But even after a few conversations I had no idea how beautiful she truly was on the inside, too. We drove out to Ann Arbor together for her shoot, and we shared stories of friends, triumphs and heartbreak. I listened closely as she shared her story with me. A story that I will keep private, but trust me when I say this is one beautiful girl. Oh, and she happens to be fun, giggly and have an amazing smile, too. But her beauty isn’t just what people see when they meet her. It lives within her and radiates from the inside out. I feel so lucky that I got to meet her and spend time together. Here’s a peek at Gigi’s senior shoot.
And a big, thanks to Lauren of Stylink by Lauren for styling Gigi and helping her get ready for her shoot. Lauren, I appreciate all you do and my clients love working with you. Thank you xoxox
