I’ve always wanted to do my own styled shoot. Or shoots, in this case. So my best friend Aubri Graybeal of Pink Sky Photography and I put our heads together a few months back and started the makings of what became our Fresh Faces Campaign 2013. We pulled together the dream team of Jill Harrison and Lauren Kronberg for makeup, hair and styling. I’ve worked with Jill many times before, she also does weddings and bridal parties. And Lauren of course if the stylist who makes all of my senior girls look amazing throughout the year. We sent out fliers locally to generate a buzz and sifted through the applicants to find 8 of the freshest, most fun faces for our shoot. Most of these girls are seniors this year, mixed in with a few juniors and they came from all over Michigan! Our models and their parents were so much fun to work with, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls for both shoots. Lauren, Sophia, Taylor and Amanda we can’t thank you enough for all of your hard work and energy to make this shoot a success! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, what an amazing experience.
When we first sat down to go through a few different concepts, it became obvious pretty quickly that we would need to pull of two shoots with two completely different directions. I was going to head up the first shoot with a bright, preppy and fresh feel and Aubri would head up the second shoot with a more natural, boho glam feel. And just wait until you see how that one turned out as well, it will be blogged later this week. But I wanted to keep this one simple, clean and bright of course. We spent the next few weeks pulling together props, wardrobe and makeup concepts via Pinterest and our favorite sources for inspiration. We divided up the girls based on their style and our overall feel for both shoots, and began work on styling both. Mother Nature threw every curveball you could imagine this past weekend including sleet, snow, rain and wind. We even toyed with the idea of moving the shoot indoors, but decided to stay outside with our original location. We shot fast and quick, and even despite the freezing temps, wind and dark skies everyone worked together and everyone had an amazing time. You can follow us on Instagram at #freshfaces2013 also!
