Last weekend, Ashley of Ashley Leslie Photography in Columbus, OH & I decided to turn a weekend of shoots in Chicago into a whirlwind & amazing mentoring session.  We spent two full days shooting, sharing and listening to a ton of really amazing music.  I’m kidding.  We spent most of our trip eating & listening to amazing music mixed in with a bit of shooting.   It was an awesome weekend, to say the least. Michigan Photography Mentoring, Photography MentorshipMichigan Photography Mentoring, Photography MentorshipMichigan Photography Mentoring, Photography Mentorship005   Here’s a little bit about Ashley and a peek at what she had to say about her mentoring session: How long have you been in business? I officially opened my business the summer I graduated from The College for Creative Studies in 2011. Where are you located? I am located in central Ohio, near Columbus. Where can we find your most current work, blog, site? Right here, www.ashleylesliephotography.com and here www.ashleylesliephotography.com/blog Canon or Nikon? Favorite Lens? Canon! It’s hard for me to pick just one favorite lens, but I love my 85mm 1.2L, but I can’t do a shoot without my 50mm, 100mm macro, and my 16-35mm. Coffee or tea? Lately I’m in love with blueberry tea. I also love coffee I just put more sugar and creamer in it than coffee. What inspires you? Such a simple question, but it’s so hard to answer. So many things inspire me! Here are a few that are at the top of my inspiration list. Beautiful sunlight Two people in love Genuine smiles and laughter Honest moments Hair blowing in the wind Amazing color Film photography Free lensing Wedding day details Beautiful fonts Surfing and underwater photography Impeccable interior design As geeky as it sounds a clean an organized room, I think so clearly in a beautiful but functional space. Last but definitely not least, My husband My favorite thing to take pictures of is… Two people in love, specifically when they make each other laugh and the moment when they hug/kiss each other and the whole world disappears around them and I get to capture that isolated moment between the two of them. Gets me every time!! What is the most exciting thing you have planned for 2014 (personal or business) Hmmm… well I do have lots of exciting things planned for 2014, but some are better left as a surprise. One of the big things I can share that I am excited about for my business, is a new workflow so I have faster turn around times!! Personal plans for 2014 include a getaway weekend with my husband for our 3rd year wedding anniversary because no matter how crazy this summer may get, we promised make time to celebrate our love too. 🙂  My thoughts… My mentorship with Mishelle Lamarand was so fun!! We went to Chicago for the weekend and got to shoot an engagement session and a senior shoot. It was nice to discover that we had similar shooting styles especially when it came to the engagement session. It was also really great to see how she worked a senior session as well, since I don’t typically do a lot of senior sessions I learned some cool posing techniques and approaches. What I loved most about the weekend, was how well Mishelle and I got a long. Just after a couple of hours with her on our drive to Chicago, I felt like we had been friends our whole lives. I connected with her on a personal level and because of this she was able to help me the most with balancing my personal life and my business. After telling her my goals and wishes for 2014, personal and business, she gave me advice on how to achieve my personal goals and still run a successful business. I didn’t know, when I booked my mentor session with Mishelle, how badly I needed a better balance between my personal life and my business. I am so glad we felt so comfortable around each other and that she helped me with that aspect of my business. I didn’t know it until after it happened, but it was exactly what I needed. I am so grateful for my mentor session with Mishelle and that I can now call her a friend. 🙂

If you are interested in a 1:1 Mentoring Session with me, please visit this link or the For the Love of Learning website for more info.  I only have a few more spots left for 2014!
